"Neighbors Helping Neighbors"
Frequently Asked Questions
When will I be billed?
We conduct "Basic Home Watch Services" which include an interior/exterior inspection and detailed report on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. We will e-mail you an electronic invoice at the end of the month detailing the basic services you received as well as any additional services you may have chosen. The invoice will include a link to a secure payment in which you will be able to pay by electronic check, due upon receipt. You will only be billed for the months you received service.
Do you do monthly inspections instead of weekly or bi-weekly?
We do not perform monthly inspections as a lot can happen in 30 days. Most insurance companies require that someone be in your home on a regular basis to avoid the vacancy exclusion that is in most Florida policies.
Are you insured?
The Village Watch carries a General Liability Policy in the amount of $1 million/$2 million aggregate and Professional General Liability.
Why do I need to hire a professional "Home Watch" service?
People who have their neighbors watch their home many times still hire a professional home watch company as well. Home Watch professionals are trained to look for problems as they begin. Anyone can come into your home to find a gushing water pipe under the kitchen sink, by then it is too late. Home Watch professionals many times will see the drip before it becomes that "broken pipe" leading to a much bigger problem. Not to mention, we are insured for your peace of mind.
The biggest concern for owners in SWFL is water intrusion and high humidity. Maintaining humidity levels between 45-55% is ideal. Mold can start to grow in as little as 72 hours when the humidity level is high. If you leave your home in May and your AC breaks soon thereafter, it is most certain that your home will be destroyed by mold. Insurance companies often deny mold claims, or the cost could be higher than what you are insured for. The Village Watch verifies humidity levels as well as checks walls, ceilings, baseboards, windows, under sinks, and anywhere else moisture might collect.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
We have no long-term contracts. You will be billed monthly based on the services rendered. We do ask for a one week notice of changes in service in order to adjust our home watch scheduling.
How will I know when you visit my home?
After every formal inspection, we will email you a detailed report within 24 hours outlining checked areas (including photos of any potential abnormalities we find). If there are any issues or areas of concern while we are there, we will notify you immediately by phone.
What should I do before I leave to prepare for the months I will be gone?
Please see our "Home Departure Checklist" for helpful tips for homeowners prior to departing their home for an extended period of time.
